COYSA is now accepting applications for the position of Discipline Committee Chair.

COYSA Discipline Chair duties would include, but are not limited to:
- Is head of the Discipline Committee that consists of a representative from each COYSA Club (currently 9 in Nov 2023)
- Is not a Club’s designate discipline representative
- Receives all discipline situations for both outdoor and indoor programs
- Reviews each case in a timely manner and determines what the situation requires (this sometimes requires back and forth communication with the parties involved to get an understanding of what occurred and then apply the discipline as per BC Soccer sanctioning guidelines in conjunction with input from Club discipline reps):
o basic communication with a coach (ie player has received 3rd yellow in season and must miss next game)
o red card needs review of BCSA Discipline guidelines to know range of suspension. Communicates information to committee getting them to decide, followed with communication to coach.
o Parent or coach behaviour - might be stern email warning or referred to Club discipline rep to handle
- Votes on discipline situation only in the event of a tie within the Committee
- Completes annually required discipline report to BCSA
- Provides a monthly report for COYSA Board meeting and is welcome to attend the meetings (but is not mandatory) but does not have a voting position at COYSA Board.
- Includes the COYSA Admin in blind copy on emails about discipline (not the internal committee correspondence but when communicating about suspensions or warnings etc).
- Able to consult BCSA’s discipline staff if needed
- Former Discipline Chair, Andy, willing to answer questions
- Primarily everything done via email. May require an in person for something like an appeal situation.
- Receives $300 per month for 9 months.
